Nnamdi Kanu is happy after hearing the United Nations’ directive to Nigeria for his immediate release.
This was disclosed to Adadainfo by Kanu’s special counsel, Barr Aloy Ejimakor, after visiting him on Monday.
Ejimakor tweeted, “I just exited from visiting Onyendu #MNK. We discussed issues that have lingered from when I last saw him on 27th June.
“The big event was his landmark victory at the United Nations. It made him cheery, and he expressed his profound gratitude to the team that made it happen.”
Kanu is being detained for allegedly running a proscribed group, treason and jumping bail. FG lost the case after a high court in Abia ruled that Kanu did not jump bail. It was sequel to a suit instituted by Kanu’s special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.
UNs’ resolution was disclosed in a tweet by Bruce Fein, Kanu’s international counsel.
He had tweeted that, “I just received opinion by Working Group of UN Human Rights Council demanding immediate unconditional release of MNK and reparations for serial violations of internationally guaranteed rights by Nigeria and Kenyan governments. Stand by for full opinion.”
Reacting, Ejimakor advised the FG to release Kanu and pay reparations for violating his rights.
He tweeted, “The removal of Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya amounted to extraordinary rendition.The appropriate remedy would be for the government of Nigeria to release Mr Kanu immediately and accord him an enforceable right to compensation in accordance with the international law.”
Reacting to the UN directives, Rachael Nwosu, a concerned citizen, wrote, “Thank God for this success. Thank God for the good legal team that made it happen.
‘Thank you, Brrrister Aloy Ejimakor for your loyalty and for excellent work always. I’m very glad for our leader. May this help to free him soon. Isee isee iseee.”
