Imo: Police Request Support From Gov Uzodimma For Optimal Operations

The inspector general of police, Mr Alkali Baba Usman, Tuesday, commended the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for equipping the Nigeria Police to tackle criminalities in the state.

He made the commendation at the commissioning of ten armoured personnel carriers and other security gadgets in Owerri. The ceremony held at Imo Government House.

IGP Alkali Baba Usman said the state, which is the heartbeat of South East, has remained strong in the fight against banditry and other crimes

According to him, Gov Uzodimma ‘has not only given a practical meaning to the constitutional provision but has distinguished himself among his political peers with exceptional courage towards supporting the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in attaining the critical security objectives’.

Uzodimma, in a remark, assured the people of the state that the government would do its best to ensure that every part of Imo ‘remains safe for everyone including investors’.

He said Imo State, under his watch, would continue to ‘make the job of security agencies easier’ through adequate support.

He appealed to the youths to shun violence in any form and embrace empowerment programmes of the state government.

The commissioner of police, Imo State, Mr Mohammed Barde, requested the assistance of the state government in the provision of operational vehicles to enhance the performance of the command.
