Daniel Rega, a concerned citizen of Nigeria over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, weekend, appealed to Mr Peter Obi to use his wide acceptance to end the ongoing strike by Nigerian university lecturers.
The strike began on 14th February this year over the perennial failure of the federal government to fulfill its promises with the university lecturers, including funding of university education to make it more result-oriented.
Daniel made the request while reacting to a tweet by Mr Obi over the massive crowd that drummed support for his presidential bid in Abuja Saturday.
Obi had tweeted, “From Kano, I am watching the OBIdients gathered in Abuja and exercising their constitutional rights to peaceful assembly. I salute you all. I appreciate you all. God bless you all and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. -PO”
Rega made his demand to Obi via his tweeter handle. Quoting him, “Peter Obi, a lot of the supporters u are applauding are students, and a majority of them are out of school due to the ongoing ASUU strike.
“U ain’t the president, but there’s a lot u can do with ur influence to help end the ASUU strike. You are well connected, so do something about it.”
