Ebonyi: LGA Chairman Confirms Setting Council Headquarters Ablaze

By Adadainfo
The chairman of Ezza North local government area of Ebonyi State, Mr Ogodo Ali Nomeh, Monday, confirmed the burning of the council headquarters by hoodlums.
The news had been awash that the headquarters was set ablaze by unknown men in the early hours of Monday.
The chairman said, “We have not arrested anybody now. You know the thing happened in the night and before we came out this morning, they already escaped.
“There were so much gunshots. And I think that so many of them were injured. So, we are moving from one hospital to another to check for people that sustained gunshot injuries.
“We are not suspecting anybody for now, until we apprehend the suspects. You know the thing happened around 2;00am in the morning.
“We are talking with security operatives that had an encounter with the hoodlums.”
It was gathered that the attackers came in their numbers, and engaged security operatives guarding the premises of the headquarters in a prolonged gun duel.
The council chairman is said to have assumed office barely a month ago. It was further gathered that the attackers gained access to the office where vital documents were kept and made away with some of them before setting the premises ablaze.
The state police command is yet to respond.
Mondays are observed as sit-at-home in Southeast states, except Ebonyi. It was declared last year by the Indigenous People of Biafra to press home the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is facing charges over alleged running a proscribed group and jumping bail in 2017, among others.
