The Ohanaeze Youth Council, weekend, commended the Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, for ruling in favour of Nnamdi Kanu over treason charges preferred against him by the federal government.

Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. The court had in its ruling on 26th October, 2022, ordered the federal government to restitute Kanu in Kenya, as well as an award of N500m in damages.

The Ohanaeze council also commended Kanu’s special counsel Barr Aloy Ejimakor for utilising judiciary options in determining human rights violations meted to Kanu in the process of his arrest and extradition to Nigeria from Kenya last year.

This was disclosed by Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, OYC’s national chairman, in an interview with newsmen in Enugu.

Igboayaka described Justice Anyadike, who presided over Kanu’s matter, as the ‘eyes of judiciary in Nigeria’, noting that her judgement ‘has proven that judiciary is the last hope of a common man and a true guide for a democratic government’.

According to him, “The judgement of Justice Evelyn Anyadike at the Federal High Court, Umuahia, has saved Nigeria from global legal mockery and humiliation.

“It has bolstered the image of Nigeria before the international community.”
