The Eastern Union, a body of progressive Nigerians championing equity and justice nationwide, Friday, described Gov Chukwuma Soludo’s statement that ex-governor Peter Obi’s investments in Anambra State ‘have become next to nothing’ as a sign of Soludo losing focus.
EU’s national president Hon Charles Anike stated this in an interview with our reporter in Abuja. In his words, “Gov Chukwuma Charles Soludo has lost focus. His case is of a man who does not know what he wants in life. His tenure of office is counting gradually, without meaningful records of tangible achievements. I am afraid the efforts of the good people of Anambra State are wasted again.
“Soludo should have known that to whom much is giving, much is expected. But unfortunately he has lost concentration to fight a man of Grace. He should expect disgrace. Since the emergence of the Obi candidacy for the number one seat in Nigeria, Prof Soludo’s body language has been that of disapproval. Why would some people be too greedy and ungrateful to God that his brother from the same state is being elevated?
“Gov Soludo is expected to utilize his present opportunity to show remorse and make amends for his wasted years as governor of the apex bank, CBN. His tenure as CBN governor yielded no known fruits to Ndigbo in general. Prof Soludo was only busy paving ways for his inordinate ambitions.
“In his selfish mind, the lgbo Presidency must wait until he finishes his first and maybe second term as governor and then becomes the long desired Igbo president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. What a madness!
“We still advise that those who can talk to him should advise him that a bird at hand is worth millions in the bush. Most lgbo leaders like Soludo who are secretly and openly fighting the Peter Obi candidacy are doing that out of selfish ambitions and not for the general good of Ndigbo.
“But one thing is very clear, Mr Peter Obi has date with history and their collective efforts can not hinder what God has ordained. And I make bold to repeat that any man fighting a man with Grace will surely end up disgraced. Prof Soludo and his likes should be advised to steer clear the determined will of Nigerians to take back our country, or they will end up in disgrace.”
Recall that Gov Soludo had on Thursday claimed that investments being credited to Obi, when he held sway as Anambra governor, ‘are worth next to nothing’. He spoke in an interview on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’.
In his words, “By the way, the investments that you’re talking about, I don’t know anything about them. I think there was something I read about somebody speculating about whatever investments. With what I’ve seen today, the value of those investments is worth next to nothing. So, let’s leave that aside.”
Obi is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections.
