Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities will not be paid for work not done in line with the federal government’s ‘no work, no pay’ policy.

This was stated by Malam Adamu Adamu, Nigeria’s minister of education in a comment over the half salaries paid federal university lecturers who recently called off their eight-months’ industrial action over FG’s many unfulfilled agreements with them overtime.

Adamu told State House Correspondents on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting, which was presided over by President Muhammad Buhari, that ‘the lecturers would not be paid for work not done’.

On allegations that Nigerian scholars are being made casual workers, Adamu replied that, “Nobody can make university lecturers casual workers.”
