Sit-At-Home: Nnamdi Kanu Condemns Killings, Destruction Of Property

By Adadainfo

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned killings and destruction of property in some parts of South East by enforcers of the sit-at-home declared by the styled leader of the IPOB, Mr Simon Ekpa.

Ekpa had declared sit-at-home on Dec 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14 aimed at truncating the participation of Southeasterners in the 2023 elections. The enforcement led to killings and destruction of property in Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi states, among others.

Kanu made the condemnation when his special counsel, Barr Aloy Ejimakor, visited him at the headquarters of the Department of State Services where is being detained over alleged running a proscribed organisation, jumping bail and treason.

Ejimakor disclosed this via his verified Twitter handle. According to him, “With profound sadness, he (Kanu) received news of the staggered attacks of past few days across Southeast, including the one at my hometown. He asked me to strongly condemn the attacks on his behalf and convey his comfort to all the victims.”

Recall that on 9th December, 2022, armed men invaded Ejimakor’s hometown in Imo State, attacking his relatives and vandalized their property. The attackers also set fire to the main market of the community.

Our correspodent reports that businesses and other social activities were hurriedly shut down Monday morning in Abakaliki following unconfirmed reports of attacks by gun men enforcing Ekpa’s sit-at-home.

The situation forced International market, banks and hospitals as well as other social activities to shut down in a hurry while people fled to their homes.

Traffic was also chaotic as motorists and other road users headed at opposite directions in confusion.

The chaos forced Governor David Umahi to authorise security agencies to shoot on sight any man bearing gun illegally.
