Former African Footballer of the Year Emmanuel Amunike says the feat achieved by Morocco in the ongoing Fifa World Cup in Qatar points to the fact that Africa has the potentials of winning the World Cup in the near future.
Our correspodent reports that Morocco edged out football greats, such as Portugal and Spain, before bowing out to France two nil in the semi-finals. The North Africans will now square up against Croatia for the third place.
Amunike, an ex-Super Eagles assistant coach, said Morocco’s loss to France would not overshadow their giant strides at the mundial.
brila.net quoted Amunike to have said that, “For me, they have made history regardless of their defeat. They can now look back and see how they can improve on their achievements.
“They have shown the world that Africans have the quality to win the World Cup if they truly believe in themselves.”
