IPOB: Kanu ‘Not Getting Better’! – Ejiofor Raises Alarm

By Adadainfo

Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a leading counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Thursday, raised alarm that the health of his client ‘is worsening’ where he is being detained at the custody of the Department of the State Services.

Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, and being tried over alleged running a proscribed group, jumping bail and treason. Nigeria’s Court of Appeal acquitted and discharged him, but the federal government refused to release him, claiming he ‘constitutes security threat’.

Ejiofor painted Kanu’s gory narratives after visiting him today in Abuja. Ejiofor also expressed Kanu’s goodwill message to the family of the late Igbo icon, Chief Mbazulike Amechi. Amechi led a delegation of Igbo leaders to President Muhammadu Buhari seeking the release of Kanu ‘as his last wish’ before his death. Amechi died without accomplishing Kanu’s release.

Barr Ejiofor wrote, “We visited our indefatigable client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu – today, being the 9th day of February, 2023, at the DSS detention facility, Abuja, where he is still being held unconstitutionally in solitary confinement.

“Onyendu was delighted to receive the comprehensive briefings on various legal undertakings by the legal team ably led by Prof. Mike Ozekhome.

“Onyendu was further briefed on the position and actions on all our appeals pending before the Supreme Court, which details remain private as we approach the D-Day in court.

“Onyendu is not showing any improvement in his worsening health condition. He is still medically uncared for, and the reason is simple – the DSS lacks the advanced medical equipment to treat Onyendu’s deteriorating health condition.

“Onyendu reiterated his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Chief Mbazulike Amechi and prayed for a successful outing as the Igbo race prepares for the burial ceremony of our late icon. He is with the family in spirit.

“Onyendu thanked Ezigbo UmuChineke for your prayers and unshaken solidarity thus far while soliciting for your consistent prayers, particularly in this trying period.

“Thank you all, Ezigbo UmuChineke, and remain blessed. We move!”
