Tribunals: Activist Warns Judiciary Against Subverting Justice

Nze kanayo Chukwumezie, a civil rights activist, weekend, advised Nigerian judiciary not to betray the trust bequeathed to them by being objective in discharging judgements in the aftermath of the 2023 general elections.

Our correspondent reports that hundreds of election results are being challenged, with accusing fingers pointing at the Independent National Electoral Commission for allegedly doing the opposite of what it preached ahead of the polls.

Nze Chukwumezie told our correspondent that, “The whole world is watching the Nigerian judiciary with regards to the ongoing election tribunals, especially with regards to the presidential election. The judges should try to dispense justice and make people see that there was justice. They should eschew technicalities and partiality.

“The future of this country somehow depends on them because from what we hear, the youths are also monitoring the proceedings. All they seem to want is justice.”
