Senator Orji Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial zone in the National Assembly, has called on President Bola Tinubu to prioritize power generation and tackle insecurity challenges facing the country.
Kalu further called on President Tinubu to initiate policies to boost the country’s economy, adding that ‘Nigerians are really suffering’.
Kalu spoke at his Igbere country home when he presented security patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police Area Commands and the Igbere vigilante group.
He said epileptic power supply, corruption and crimes were the major problems facing the nation.
In his words, “President Tinubu should put his feet on the ground to address issues about the economy, fight corruption and crimes and Nigeria society will be good.
“Nigerians are really suffering, but it’s not the making of the present administration or the previous ones but it’s something that has been there for decades and bursting slowly, but we need to all come together and support the government at all levels.
“The people should also support the police because the government alone can’t solve all their problems because of the paucity of funds. You can see that the new Inspector General of Police is very effective but they should be supported.”
Kalu prayed Nigerians to abstain from violence and criminal activities, urging them to key into the opportunities that the agricultural sector presents and contribute to the uplift of the Nigerian economy.
Kalu decried the vandalisation of some of the infrastructure he attracted, including solar electricity in parts of Abia North.
He however expressed confidence that the Nigerian Police and Igbere vigilante group would now be better equipped to function optimally with the provision of the patrol vehicles.
The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, thanked Kalu for the donation, adding that they would assist the command maximally.
