An academic and business mogul, Prof Okechukwu Ezenwoye, weekend, commended the governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for his developmental strides in the past two years in office.

Prof Ezenwoye stated this in Awka while answering questions from newsmen on the affairs of the state. He said that the governor had brought visible developments in all sectors of Anambra economy since he assumed office barely two years ago.

The peace ambassador extolled Soludo’s “unwavering commitment to infrastructural development, especially road constructions and the ongoing construction of Ekwulobia flyover and its adjoining internal roads”.

He described the ongoing construction of over four hundred kilometres of roads by the Soludo administration within his two years in office “as unprecedented and phenomenal in the history of Anambra”, urging him to sustain the momentum.

The scholar pointed out that the free antenatal and delivery services granted to pregnant women by the current administration in the state “have significantly reduced maternal mortality in the state”, and advised the governor to continue his massive investment in the health sector as adequate health services “are key to economic development of any nation”.

He however advised Governor Soludo to redouble his efforts in tackling insecurity in the state, adding that, “Cases of killings and kidnappings are still popping up recklessly across some local government areas and communities in Anambra South sensational zone.”

According to him, “Effective security network is one of the models for good governance in the developed countries. I charge Anambra residents to be alive to their responsibilities because security is everybody’s business.”

Ezenwoye said the recent awards won by Governor Soludo, especially as the Champions Newspaper Man of the Year 2023 on Infrastructure and Rural Development, was well deserved. He also described the recent appointment of Soludo as the vice chairman, Southern Governors Forum, as a step in the right direction.

He called on Governor Soludo to use his new position to advocate for equitable distribution of resources by the federal government and other pressing issues facing the southeast region, especially insecurity and discrimination in terms of job opportunities and appointments in key federal government ministries, departments and agencies in the interest of peace, justice and fairness.
