Some journalists travelling to cover Super Eagles match in Uyo have been kidnapped.
It was gathered that a number of eleven journalists travelling to Uyo through Anambra State were involved.
The victims were travelling on Wednesday in a bus through Iseke around Ihiala area of Anambra state when they were abducted, a source said.
Quoting the source, “Nine of the journalists have been rescued. One of them identified as Kola was shot dead, while four of the victims are still being held in captivity.”
The police spokesperson, Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, said he had no information of the rescue of any of the victims.
He however assured that operatives of the command have been deployed to rescue them.
He said, “We intercepted the information as was being shared on various social media platforms yesterday, and we went to work immediately.
“As I speak to you, a joint operation is ongoing. We are however not sure if they are in captivity or were able to escape.”
