A former governorship candidate in Ebonyi State during the 2023 general elections, Professor Benard Ifeanyi Odoh, has emerged the seventh substantive vice-chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
In his acceptance speech on Tuesday, Prof Odoh stressed the need for unity.
In his words, “this is the time to move beyond the prejudices and doubts that arose during the search for the university’s top position”.
He added that, “I understand the concerns and skepticism, but I believe you will judge me on my performance, not on hearsay.”
He affirmed his commitment towards the uplift of the university, noting that, “Together, we will elevate our university to greatness.”
Our correspondent reports that Odoh, a professor of applied geophysics, was born on August 5, 1975, in Ebonyi State.
He is a former secretary to the Ebonyi State government from 2015 to 2018, and was the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the state during the 2023 general elections.
