The programme seeks to mitigate the effects of COVID-I9 crisis on the livelihood of the poor and vulnerable farmers, Grace Okenwa, public relations officer, Enugu Fadama Project, said in a release weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the state project coordinator, Mr Jude Ogboke, in a recent meeting with the project management and community facilitators, said the Fadama project was implementing the Result Area 2 of the NG-CARES programme in Enugu State.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the Result Area 2, which Enugu Fadama is facilitating, aims at increasing food security and safe functioning of food supply chains.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ogboke said the project was providing inputs and assets support to farmers &#8216;who were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic&#8217;, saying that most farmers suffered huge losses in their farming activities as a result of the lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the project had already supported a total of 1,170 farmers in the first phase, adding that &#8216;the farmers were drawn from six local government areas of the state. The affected LGAs, he stated, are Aninri, Isi-Uzo, Udenu, Nsukka, Ezeagu and Nkanu East.<\/p>\n<p>Our correspondent reports that the beneficiaries received production assets and inputs support, such as bags of fertilizers, agro-chemicals, bundles of cassava stem, cassava graters, cassava peelers, communal fryers, knapsack sprayers, rice threshers, mini rice mills, rice destoners, multipurpose
