Amb Ejike Eze, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Enugu North senatorial zone in the 2023 general elections, Saturday, vowed to make a qualified Nsukka native the vice chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, if elected senator.
Amb Eze regretted that in the over-fifty years of existence of UNN, no Nsukka man has been elected its VC.
He made the remarks at the 2022 Convention of the Nsukka Journalist Forum held at Adada House, Nsukka.
He said, “If I fail to make an Nsukka person the VC, let the electorate recall me.
“It is time to interrogate our leaders. Let our leaders and aspiring ones tell us what they have done or are doing.
“I’m in politics to serve. I am in APC. Since 1999, Enugu State has been in the PDP, and we keep complaining. It means that there is a fundamental problem. This is what we have come to correct.
“Let’s look for leaders who will not alienate themselves from our people.”
Amb Eze was given an award of excellence by the NJF during the occasion.
