As the recent killing of some 14 youths in Imo State continues to generate reactions, human rights lawyer, Barr Aloy Ejimakor, Wednesday, warned against using the influence of the Indigenous People of Biafra to paint the entire Igbo youths black.
Ejimakor in a tweet stated that, “‘They’re IPOB members’ has been the constant official justification each time these #Massacres in SE happen.
“If latching on IPOB is intended to paint the hapless victims as unworthy of Igbo outrage, it won’t work because, IPOB or not, they’re still Igbos and IPOB is not unworthy.”
Recall that the Movement for the Survival of the Sovereign State of Biafran, Tuesday, warned Gov Hope Uzodimma against using his Ebubeagu security outfit to kill youths of Igbo land.
The position of MASSOB was made by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, in Owerri.
The statement read: “These killings of innocent citizens is one of the several, uncountable and secret killings of our people by government-backed Ebubeagu. They are primarily established as a witch-hunting outfit to fight political enemies and non-violence pro-Biafra agitators.”
Ohanaeze Youth Council also warned Gov Uzodimma to check the excesses of Ebubeagu in Imo State.
Its national president, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, said, “We are using this opportunity to advise the governor to look deeply into the activities of Ebubeagu before it will lead to massive resistance of Ndi-Imo and Ndigbo at large.”
Uzodimma however responded that the 14 youths who were killed were bandits terrorising the area. According to him, they were killed by operatives of the Department of State Security.
