A new President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has been elected by the General Assembly of the Christian body.
He is Archbishop Daniel Okoh. He was elected unanimous by the 259 delegates of the Association. He takes over from Dr Samson Supo Ayokunle whose tenure ended.
In his acceptance speech he charged President Mohammadu Buhari to resolve the rising insecurity in the country. He said “while thanking the president and Commander in Chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for his efforts to combat terrorism and banditry I would like to appeal to His Excellency to end blood letting, kidnapping and general insecurity in all the geo-political zones of the country.”
He said ” I believe that the government can do more to secure the lives and property given all the modern technology within his reach.”
The new CAN President is to serve for a single term of five years.
He is the General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church International, Onitsha.
