Former speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Friday warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is now being called a “janjaweed” party following its leaning towards filling party, elective and appointive positions with people of Muslim faith to the exclusion of Christians, especially Northern Christians.
The Janjaweed, an armed tribal militia group in the Darfur region of western Sudan, are also Muslim like the African groups they attack.
Dogara, who said this Friday during a conference by APC northern Christian leaders to reject the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in their party, APC, warned Nigeria under APC was going the way of Nazi Germany its exclusionist tendencies.
Dogara warned that the APC wants to disintegrate Nigeria like the USSR (old Russia Republic) and Yugoslavia.
Adadainfo reports that APC northern Christian leaders at the conference urged Nigerians not to vote for any tickets that are not mixed between Christians and Muslims, a direct attack on the candidacy of their party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Borno Senator Kashim Shettima, both of whom are Muslims.

Dogara stated that Nigeria of 2022 is not the Nigeria of 1993 when MKO Abiola and Babagana Kingibe, both Muslims, won the presidential poll on the SDP ticket, only for the election to be later annulled.
He described Tinubu’s decision as a fatal error of judgement.
Dogara joined other Northern Christian leaders in calling on Christians to seek alternative platforms in the 2023 elections.
“Truth must be told that anyone who is not bringing us together is consciously tearing us apart,” Dogara said.
