The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, will collaborate with the Nigeria Immigration Service to stem the tide of illegal migration and human trafficking in the state.
Mr Isidore Chikere, the state commandant of the corps, made the declaration, Friday, during a visit to the comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service, Anambra State, in Awka.
Mr Chikere said the essence of his visit was to ensure sustainability and solidify the inter-agency collaboration that has been existing between the two agencies.
He said the Service and the NSCDC had a history of close collaboration in the fight against irregular migration and other forms of trans-border crimes, and expressed his desire to further consolidate the ties.
DSC Edwin Okadigbo, the PRO, NSCDC, Anambra State, told our correspondent that the state commandant further called for concerted efforts of all the security agencies for effective border security and management.
Mrs Ngozi Odikpo, the state comptroller of immigration, promised the NSCDC state boss of her support to achieve the desired result.
Mrs Odikpo used the opportunity to educate the state commandant and his team on the enhanced electronic passports which make applicants not to require the services of a third party to obtain passports.
