As the 2023 general elections draw closer, a political pundit in Enugu claims the guber candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barrister Peter Mba, will win.
Dr Emeka Aroh told Adadainfo on Monday that Mba’s political pedigree would consolidate the good governance of the incumbent administration in the state.
According to him, “Societal development is organic. Mba is coming to take Enugu to the highest level where innovations will come in. He will industrialize the state.
“He was a commissioner for finance, and chief of staff to former governor Chimaroke Nnamani. He made Pinnacle Oil stand tall in the sector. All those achievements show that he has garnered experiences which if elected will pave way for political and economic development in Enugu State.”
He said Labour Party’s Hon Chijioke Edeoga and Frank Nweke Junior of the All Progressives Grand Alliance ‘do not pose any threat to the chances of Mba’.
In his words, “Edeoga ran for primary in the PDP. It was transparent that day. He congratulated the winner. All of a sudden, he decamped to the Obedient family.
“People see him as the rightful candidate, but his decamping is a sign of political insincerity. Currently, the billboards he used during the PDP primary are still standing on the various locations in Enugu.
“It is true that Isi-Uzo where he comes from is marginalized, but you don’t enthrone incompetency and dethrone meritocracy.
“Ngwo where I come from is also marginalized in Enugu East politics. It is not only Isi-Uzo.”
Alex Amajiogu, a faithful of All Progressives Grand Alliance, said PDP has reached the end of the road come 2023.
According to him, “Since 1999, they have been in power in the state. It is time to chase away PDP with our votes. The candidate of APGA, Frank Nweke Junior, is an administrator and industrialist, a former minister of information and somebody with empathy who will think about the plight of the poor masses before taking a decision. He is not the type that will wake up in the morning and order the demolition of the sources of the people’s livelihood.”
