Barr Casmir Agbo, chairman of the Labour Party, Enugu State chapter, Tuesday evening, said that Capt Everest Nnaji is not a registered member of the party in the state.
Agbo said this while addressing journalists in Enugu in reaction to the claim by Nnaji that he is the authentic governorship candidate of the party in the state.
According to him, “I want to clear the air on the recent event where one Chief Everest Nnaji (aka Odengene) is misinforming the good people of Enugu State on being the governorship candidate of Labour Party.
“Chief Everest Nnaji has never, to the best of my knowledge as party chairman, purchased our party nomination form.
“Chief Nnaji, as I speak, does not know where the party office is situated now and before. He cannot tell the name of his ward or local government chairmen of our great party.
“I, therefore, wonder why he is laying claims to what he does not have. I want to make it clear to the general public that Everest Nnaji is not even a member of Labour Party.”
The chairman reiterated that Barr Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga remains the guber candidate of the party in Enugu State for the 2023 elections.
He pointed accusing fingers to the PDP for trying to cause confusion in the party with the view to whittling down its rising profile in the state.
“The party is aware that the hand is that of Esau but the voice is that of Jacob.
“The ruling PDP is jittery, afraid of the rising voice of Labour Party and Chijioke Edeoga, and that is why they are sponsoring Nnaji to cause confusion in our party, ” he said.
Agbo said that no amount of blackmail would deter it from wresting power from PDP in 2023.
He said that the party had resolved to take Enugu State and return power to the people come 2023, adding that ‘nothing will stop it, not even the PDP and their cohorts’.
“I, therefore, urge the good people of Enugu State to disregard those noises and focus on voting for our party and our candidates to restore the dignity of our state,” he said.
