The Anambra State government has ordered the closure of Wintess Garden Hotel, based in Awka, over a viral sex video recorded at the swimming pool of the hotel.
Our correspondent gathered weekend that Mr Donatus Onyenji, state commissioner for culture, entertainment and tourism, gave the directive to enable investigations into the matter in line with the provisions of the Anambra State Tourism and Hospitality Law 2016.
Onyenji’s order read, “This and other such indecent operational standard and unholy acts of public show of indecency must not be allowed in any hotel in Anambra.
“Government of Anambra State hereby directs the management of Wintess Garden Hotel to shut down operations pending further investigations and review of the application.”
The media was awash last week when some people, alleged to be students of Unizik, were seen engaging in sex at the swimming pool of the hotel, while being recorded.
However, Unizik’s management has debunked the involvement of her students in the act.
The university’s spokesman, Mrs Chika Ene, made the clarification in a release. She stated that, “The individuals in the video are not students of our noble institution.
“The management of the university frowns at such immoral acts and thus reiterates the core values of self-discipline and good morals which university is instilling in its students.”
