Five persons were killed on Sunday when gunmen attacked the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Uba, the Anmabra police said on Tuesday.
The attack happened at Sunday evening at Enugwu-Ukwu community, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The clarification was made by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, PPRO, Anambra State Police Command.
According to him, “Two police officers were killed. The other three that died in the attack were one civilian and two aides of Ifeanyi Ubah.”
He added that two other police operatives who sustained bullet wounds are currently receiving treatment.
Ubah represents Anambra South District in the Senate.
The police report however differs from the accounts of Senator Uba who earlier said that the dead included officials of the State Security Service (SSS).
