The Buhari administration has released a yet-to-be-confirmed number of members of the Indigenous People of Biafra who had been in detention since February, 2020.
Recall that operatives of the Nigerian Army arrested them on 27th February at Imo River community in Abia State.
Sunday Nwafor, 59; Uzonwanne Ejiofor, 48 and Wilfred Dike, 36, were among those released, our correspondent gathered.
They had been kept incommunicado in military detention facilities for over two and half years.
IPOB is a pro-Biafra group led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The group is proscribed in Nigeria.
Kanu’s lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor had some weeks ago stated that more IPOB faithful detained at various custodies in the country would soon regain their freedom. He stated this after the release of Mama Biafra, 80 years old.
