The flawed presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) plunged the party into its currently quagmire, Gov Samuel Ortom said Monday.
Ortom made the remarks on Monday during the state PDP expanded caucus meeting.
Governor Ortom said had made suggestions for the way out, and regretted that his ideas were not taken.
Ortom called on the leadership of the party to resolve the internal crisis, adding that he remained committed to the party’s electoral victory in 2023.
He said, “The main agenda of the PDP is how to rescue the country from the APC’s misrule which has plunged the nation into multiple socio-economic problems that must be tackled holistically to redeem the nation.”
He assured that ahead of next year’s general election, the PDP in the Benue State remained united and focused on clinching victory in all positions.
He pledged to carry all stakeholders along in the party’s decision-making, adding that PDP, as a political party, ‘provides a platform for all its members to have equal opportunities to contribute to governance’.
