Flood has submerged about 300 buildings, including churches, schools and health facilities, at Ogwu-Ikpele, Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State.
The development forced residents to resort to speed boats as only means of transportation, our correspondent gathered.
Ogwu- Ikpele is among the oil producing communities in Anambra State, and has boundaries with Rivers and Imo states.
A resident told our correspondent that, “We were warned about this flood by the National Emergency Management Agency.”
Meanwhile, Chief Sunday Mmadupu, the president general of the community, confirmed that the flood had forced farmers to harvest their crops prematurely.
He appealed to the federal and Anambra state governments to rescue them. According to him, “We have no place to run to.”
