Former Minister of Aviation in the First Republic, Chief Mbazulike Amechi, has told the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electrical Commission (INEC) to ensure that the 2023 presidential election is free, fair and credible.

Speaking to newsmen in his country home, Amichi, Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State, the first republican minister warned that youths of Nigeria may be provoked to embark on what they may call #EndINEC if the result of the coming election is manipulated.

He said: “Nigerians are tired of the present political leadership in the country. The people of this country are no longer happy over the state of affairs, including insecurity, unemployment, hunger, deprivation, etc.

“These developments have sparked a sort of revolution in the polity. The Nigerian people, especially the youths, are yearning for a change that will be positive and sustainable.

“Today, you can see the youths of Nigeria in their numbers participating in the voter registration exercises, electoral campaigns, and also showing their eagerness to have a government that will impact positively on the people. This is because of their disenchantment on the present political leadership.

“Therefore, I will advise the ruling APC and the INEC to read the handwriting on the wall by conducting a credible election on 25th February, 2023. They must conduct an election that will be seen to reflect what the people want.

“Based on what I can see on the body language of the Nigerian youths, a protest that may be deadlier than what was seen during the #EndSARS may spark if the election is rigged. Most of us witnessed the civil war, and we will not be happy to see it repeat.”
