The Enugu State Police Command, Monday, confirmed the death of eleven persons in a fatal motor accident along Enugu/Port-Harcourt expressway, leading to the death of eleven persons with many others sustaining varying injuries.
DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the state police public relations officer, stated this in a release.
According to him, “There was a fatal motor accident on 30/10/2022 at about 9.30pm, involving a Toyota Hiace bus with reg no KTG 41 XD, conveying twelve passengers, travelling from Owerri, Imo State, to Kano State.
“The vehicle is reported to have plunged into a broken-down and stationary Howo Sino truck at Akegbe-Ugwu, along Enugu/Port-Harcourt expressway, and bursted into fire, leading to eleven of the travellers suffering severe burnt before emergency help could get to them.
“They were taken to the hospital and confirmed dead by doctors on duty.”
