The Young Progressive Party (YPP) House of Representatives candidate for Awka North and Awka South Federal Constituency, Hon. Kingsley Uyammadu, has announced that God anointed him to represent the federal constituency in 2023.
Uyammadu disclosed this last weekend in Awka during an interactive session with the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council. He said with him at the National Assembly, his constituents and the nation at large would experience a divine turnaround in policy making and good representation.
According to the 50-year-old industrialist turned politician, political instability, inconsistency in policy making, among others, were denying the country opportunity to attract foreign and local investors.
He also pledged to attract vocational institutions across the two council areas he is aspiring to represent, as well as establish a trade zone at Awba-Ofemili, Awka North LGA, with a view to creating jobs.
He went down memory lane on how he travelled across the globe, invested in so many enterprises and consulted different personalities to bring back investments, but that the attempts were frustrated by inconsistent government policies.
In his words, “God anointed me as the Messiah to represent Awka North and South Federal Constituency come 2023. No force or power under the earth can stop me from being elected as the next House of Representatives member for my constituency.
“As an industrialist, who had travelled round the world, I have better idea on how to transform my constituency and Nigeria. God endowed me with leadership qualities. I have led landlords associations, church associations and so on.
“I am a manufacturer. I manufacture water, juice and other soft drinks from my industry that is located in Achalla, my country-home. Scripture says that when the righteous is in power, the people rejoice.
“Nigeria problem is not only corruption but also the war between light and darkness. I have come to shine the light. God sent me to deliver as a movement voice to propagate his gospel. This is the first time someone is emerging as consensus candidate in the two council areas.
“Again, I am the only person contesting the election from Awka North. Awka South has four candidates from four different political parties. Again, my constituents are lagging behind in the area of infrastructural development. I am the only candidate with the key to redeem the constituency.
“After my inauguration, I going to see the president, and consult with other National Assembly members to make investor-friendly policies. I will move for the federal government to establish a free trade zone in Awba-Ofemili, Awka North LGA.
“Awba is one town with arable land. Awka North is supposed to become the food basket of the nation. I will make it happen once government establishes a free trade zone. I will also set up vocational institutions across the two local government areas so that we will build capacities of people to become employers of labour.
“As a legislator, my main focus will be to create the enabling environment needed to boost sales and production in Awka North and Awka South. I will make renewable energy a priority so that the funds hitherto wasted on alternative power supply could be reinvested in growing businesses.
“This will make Awka North and Awka South a free trade zone. Local production of goods will be greatly encouraged as we build our businesses from within. We will ensure favourable competitive strength for our manufacturers.”
Also speaking, an Ugbene High Chief, Ozo Emetumba Afudike, Chief Onwelukwue Aron Chukwukadibia, thanked journalists in Anambra State, led by Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, for creating the platform for the YPP candidate to voice out his plans, stating that he has the capacity to represent them well.
