The Enugu State government has summoned an emergency security meeting schedule Tuesday, 20th December, 2022 to find solutions to the lingering killings at Eha-Amufu communities in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In a statement signed by a governor’s media aide, Mr Steve Oruruo, those expected at the meeting are the chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA, state commissioner for commerce and industry, and other top government officials from Eha-Amufu; the bishop representing the members of the clergy from Eha-Amufu, and representatives of various communities of the place.
Recall that Eboh community of Eha-Amufu was attacked two days ago, with many lives lost.
The most recent attack occurred exactly 10 days after similar ones at Eboh and Umujiovu communities, which claimed over 25 lives.
The invasion of Eha-Amufu by alleged herders has escalated insecurity and tension in the area, with many persons displaced.
Meanwhile, the Ohanaeze Youth Council, through its national president, Comrd Igboayaka O Igboayaka, has called on Igbo leaders to sit in tackling the rising insecurity in the region.
Igboayaka, in a release, said, “I warn Igbo leaders to sit up now, convoke a compulsory Southeast geo-political zonal meeting and cease from betraying Ndigbo for money or political positions, otherwise, there will be a political mob action in Igbo land that will sweep off every political oppressor.”
