Dr Doyin Okupe, Thursday afternoon, confirmed that he has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
He was earlier arrested by the Department of the State Services, and handed over to the EFCC.
Peter Afunanya, DSS spokesman, said his arrest was to enable the probe of the details of the fine he paid after his conviction by an FCT High Court recently.
Shortly after DSS arrested Okupe and handed him over to the EFCC, the former campaign DG of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council announced his release, adding that he was ‘arrested in error’.
Okupe, via his Twitter handle, said, “I was arrested and detained at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos this morning, 12th Jan, on my way to the United Kingdom for medicals after years of my passport being withheld by the FHC Abuja.
“I have just left the EFCC office where senior officers in Lagos and Abuja appologised to me for the error?”
