A female, aged 50, and eight others, have been arrested by the police operatives of the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly vandalising an electricity mast.
A statement by the state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, made available to our reporter on Tuesday, said the suspects were arrested on 15/1/2023 around 3am by police operatives in conjunction with a vigilante group acting on credible information at New Site, Ikpo Urueze Land, Oba, Idemili South.
He gave the names of the suspects as Amara Nneji, ‘f’, 39; Kinsley Iwuozo, ‘m’, 50; Romanus Dim, ‘m’, 40 yrs; Abuchi Onuoha, ‘m’, 29; Chukwudi Eke, ‘m’, 39; Ikechukwu Eze, ‘m’, 44; Ukpe Monday, ‘m’, 40; Bartholomew Anugwueje, ‘m’, 45; and Ikenna Christopher, ‘m’, 28.
Items recovered from them are a truck containing seven welding machines, some irons, and other sophisticated equipment after they allegedly vandalized the electricity power line mast in the area.
DSP Ikenga stated that, “The suspects confessed to the level of their involvement in the act. They shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigations.”
In a similar development, operatives of the state police ommand, while on patrol, recovered abandoned vehicles suspected to be stolen.
They include Lexus ES 350 with the registration number LAGOS AKD 495 HU, and Toyota Camry car with registration number LAGOS JJJ 653 HW.
DSP Ikenga, in the release, invited ‘anyone or group looking for any of the vehicles to come to the office of the command’s public relations officer, Awka, with valid proof/evidence of ownership of such vehicles for verification and possible collection’
