Breaking: Supreme Court Halts FG From ‘Eliminating’ Old Naira Notes In Circulation

The Supreme Court, Wednesday, halted the federal government from phasing out old naira notes.

Adadareporters reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria, under the leadership of Mr Godwin Emefiele, hitherto fixed February 10, 2023 as deadline for the circulation of the old naira notes of N200, N500 and N1000. The decision increased the surge at banks.

The apex court, in a temporary order, barred the move in an exparte application filed by three states of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara.

It was presided over by a seven-member panel under the lordship of Justice John Okoro.
