Nigeria Premier League champions, Enyimba, have sacked their head coach, George Finidi.
The Abia State government last week appointed former Super Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu, as new chairman of the club. Kanu and Finidi were teammates at Ajax Amsterdam of Holland, winning the European Champions League in 1995.
Adadareporters reports that Finidi guided the Aba Elephants, as Enyimba are fondly called, to a historic ninth NPL title less than a month ago. Finidi, winner of African Nations Cup with Super Eagles, was in charge of Enyimba for two seasons.
The Peoples’ Elephant in a statement signed by their sporting director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, however, directed all the coaches to re-apply for their positions within 48 hours.
