10th National Assembly ‘Rubber Stamp, Started Badly’ – EU

The 10th National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, started ‘very badly’, Eastern Union said Sunday.

EU, a group advocating good governance, further described the present NASS as having no difference from the 9th Assembly under ex-president Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari’s NASS was led by Mr Ahmad Lawan.

Charles Anike, national president of EU, said, “There’s basically nothing different between 10th and the 9th National Assembly. They’re of the same parents, therefore, have the same genes.

“And the bitter truth is that no bad tree can ever bear good fruits. Anybody expecting anything extra-ordinary from the 10th National Assembly must be day-dreaming. You can see that they started with the same bow-and-go method of the Ahmad Lawal-led 9th Assembly. And also it has continued to be loan approving Senate.”

Anike described the 10th NASS’ ministerial screening as a charade.

According to him, “The ministerial screening by the 10th Assembly was a charade. Nobody should expect anything different from what we had during the 9th Assembly: take a bow and go for even a man that entered the university with two credits?

“And others with all kinds of forged documents still told to take a bow and go? What precedent are we really setting for the future generations? The question is why do we still take these so-called senators serious? And why do we still waste time in this same ritual of ministerial screening?

“If care care is not taking, the 10th Assembly will even be more rubber stamp than the 9th Assembly. After all they are of the same background, and that’s what hurts them and makes them impotent. Ahmad Lawal was a rubber-stamp Senate president because he didn’t get the seat on merit, so also Akpabio.

“Every annoited person in any position must be a stooge to the cabals who annoited them. Nobody can compare the reign of Bukola Saraki and that of Ahmad Lawal, and this Akpabio in terms of quality and courageous leadership and true representation of the Nigerian masses. You can see that Akpabio is only a channel to send ‘prayers’ into deep emails of insatiable appetites senators.”
