The claim that former Anambra commissioner for finance, Mr Ifeatu Onejeme, resigned his appointment as a result of a rift between him and Governor Charles Soludo is false and malicious.
This was contained in a statement by the chief press secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime.
The statement notes that an online media channel ‘concocted a false claim of an alleged previous walk-out on the governor by the former chairman of the state internal revenue service’, describing them as baseless allegations weaved together to mislead the public.
According to the statement, Mr Onejeme resigned from his position for personal and family-related reasons which the governor understood and respected.
The statement notes that Mr Onejeme was reappointed after serving in Governor Obiano’s administration to help the new government stabilise .
While dismissing the notion of fallout between the governor and Mr Onejeme over the state finances, the statement affirmed ‘the resolute commitment of Governor Soludo to integrity, transparency, accountability and the well-being of the people of Anambra State’.
It advised the people of the state to disregard those ‘baseless allegations and sustain their support towards government’s efforts at building a prosperous and thriving state’.
