The Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, Thursday, ordered a rerun of the state governorship election held on March, 18. The tribunal declared the poll as inconclusive.
The tribunal, in a divided ruling of 2:1, declared the election inconclusive and directed that a supplementary election be held by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) within 90 days.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is challenging the election of Gov Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress as the governor of the state on the grounds of alleged irregularities and electoral fraud. PDP claims its candidate, Me Isa Mohammed Ashiru, won the election.
The PDP and Ashiru had called 24 witnesses and presented claims and documents to prove their cases. The tribunal earlier ruled that the timeline of the filing of the suit was in order.
