Welder Jailed Three Months For Stealing Car Battery

A Jos Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, sentenced a 43-year-old welder, Solomon John, to three months imprisonment for stealing a car battery.

The magistrate, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, summarily sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to theft.

Bokkos gave the convict an option to pay N20,000 fine. The magistrate said the punishment would serve as a deterrent to other would-be offenders.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on March 27, at the Laranto Police Station Jos by one Victor Ayuba,  the complainant.

The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau state Penal Code Law.
