Senate Recalls Suspended Senator Ningi

By Adadareporters
The Senate, Tuesday, recalled Senator Abdul Ningi representing Bauchi Central at the National Assembly. The lawmaker was hitherto suspended for three months over his budget padding allegations two months ago.
Ningi, of the Peoples Democratic Party, was on March 12 suspended for alleging, during a BBC Hausa Service interview, that the National Assembly passed two 2024 appropriation bills.
He also alleged that the 2024 budget was padded to the tune of N3.7 trillion. The Senate’s decision to recall Ningi was sequel to a motion for “the unconditional recall of Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi” sponsored by Abba Morro, the Senate minority leader, and co-sponsored by Olalere Oyewumi, representing Osun West and Osita Ngwu, the senator representing Enugu West.
Morro said Ninigi had spent over two months outside the precincts of the National Assembly complex and needed to return to continue with his legislative activities as the senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District.
He said the Senate Minority Leadership takes full responsibility for the actions of Ningi and apologises on his behalf.
