The medical director of Ukehe General Hospital in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, Dr Innocent Nwoga, has been abducted. This was announced by the Nigerian Medical Association, Enugu State chapter.
Its spokesman, Dr Ebuka Ugwoke, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. He said the medical doctor was abducted while on an official duty in the area.
He added that the chairman of the NMA in the state, Dr Chibuzo Ndiokwelu, has condemned the abduction of the doctor.
Quoting Him, “The leadership of our dear association is currently engaging all the relevant agencies and our demand remains just one: immediate and unconditional release of Dr Nwoga to reunite with his family, loved ones and his patients.
“We request that the government does the needful to see to it that he is released unharmed immediately.”
The Enugu State Police Spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, asked for time to confirm the development when contacted.
