Private School Bearing “Accedemy” As Name Generates Reactions In Enugu

A newly established private nursery and primary school at Orba, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Precy & Lilly Accedemy, has caused stir following the wrong spelling of its name by the school promoters.

The cause of the reactions is how the school spelt “Accedemy” instead of “Academy”.

“By their fruits, you shall know them,” said a mother who was passing by. “How can a school that its owners can’t spell its name correctly nurture kids in the global education dynamics? I think lack of regulation is the bane of our education. One would have expected regulatory authorities to close that school. But as it is, the school is currently enrolling pupils for resumption this September.”

Another observer, one Moses Eze, said, “This school boasts of being innovative. But the fact that its spelling is not correct casts doubts on such claims. I can’t send my child to such school, having seen this fundamental error.”

However, one Johnson Umunna, who claims to be a linguist, defended the name. He said, “One is at liberty to register any name for an enterprise. If that is the spelling granted them during the registration, so be it. It is not for a outsider to question it; unless the school isn’t registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.”
