Gunmen have killed two police operatives in Anambra.
They were killed in the early hours of Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Uruagu, Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state, reports our correspondent.
A statement by the Anambra State Police Command, signed by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that, “The armed men started shooting sporadically on sighting the police operatives and threw improvised explosives into their operational vehicle.
“Unfortunately, two of the operatives paid the supreme price while the vehicle caught fire.”
SP Ikenga said a joint security team had commenced manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.
In his words, “The command calls on members of the public, especially the eyewitnesses and other sundries to aid the ongoing police operations in the area.”
