The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Monday, expressed delight over the the appointment of Professor Kingsley Moghalu (OON) as the President of the African School of Governance (ASG).
“The appointment of Moghalu as the president of such a unique institution did not come to us as a surprise because of his robust intellect, requisite qualifications, global exposure, cognate experience and social skills,” Ohanaeze said in a release by Ambassador Okey Emuchay, Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
The school, it was gathered, focuses on developing a new generation of purpose-driven leaders with the skills and mindsets to help Africa address the challenges of the 21st Century; offer world-class public policy education, research, and engagement programmes; and to transform the continent’s leadership landscape by meeting the diverse needs of leaders across Africa, etc.
Moghalu, Ohanaeze recalled, had served in several agencies of the United Nations, such as World Health Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Sogato Strategies S.A; Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria; Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Kuala Lumpur-based Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI); and deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Ohanaeze added, “In each of the organizations, he demonstrated remarkable skills, exceptional diligence, elegance and panache. But the most endearing of the Moghalu persona is that at a period most mundane public officers are absorbed in a rat race for illicit acquisition of wealth, he left the above offices with neither blemish nor tarnish.
“Therefore, there is no gainsaying that the African School of Governance (ASG) has made the best choice in Professor Kinsley Moghalu.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo has the supreme confidence that Professor Moghalu will leverage the opportunity to change the African narrative.”
While wishing Professor Kingsley Moghalu a successful and eventful tenure in office, Ohanaeze expressed joy that “his disruptive intellect has found a broader expression in lifting Africa from its diverse deleterious scourges.”
