By Adadareporters

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru, has ordered the arrest and prosecution of one Ndukwe Ayansi and five others for allegedly diverting materials meant for the state’s Ministry of Health.

Governor Nwifuru’s order was contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, which was made available to newsmen in Abakaliki weekend.

The governor caught the suspects while on his way to project inspection, according to the statement.

It was gathered that he had sighted a Toyota Dyana truck loading registers, books and other materials from the warehouse in the state Ministry of Health which prompted him to drive into the ministry.

Mr Uzor added that Governor Nwifuru further discovered that patients’ data registers, cards and a host of other documents had been moved into the vehicle while the suspects failed to give convincing reasons why they were taking them away.

It was also discovered that all the documents had been sold without government approval.

The governor described the action as sabotage to his government’s efforts at repositioning the health sector.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been handed over to the police while investigations continue.
