Governor Mba Pledges Commitment To Renewed Hope Cash Transfer In Enugu

Enugu State Governor, Barr Peter Mba, represented by the focal person, National Social Investment Programme NSIP, Dr. Innocent Ogbonna, has declared his intention to support Renewed Hope Cash Transfer programme to ensure poverty eradication in the state.

He made this disclosure during the Step Down Orientation Training for Enugu State Cash Transfer Staff on National Social Safety Project Scale Up NASSP – SU held at Barcelona Hotel, New Haven Enugu, on Wednesday.

According to the governor, instead of reducing poverty, it is better to eradicate it, describing it as hydra-headed monster that deserves no mercy.

The state programme manager, SPM, Ogbuanya Sunday, said that the training was organized by Enugu State Cash Transfer Unit SCTU in collaboration with Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA, to equip the state officers and cash transfer facilitators with the fundamental knowledge of NASSP – SU to ensure total implementation.

Ogbuanya said, “NASSP – SU is an expansion and extension of Conditional Cash Transfer programme created to improve the lives of the larger number of poor and vulnerable households in Urban, pri-Urban, and rural areas in the country.”

He affirmed that NASSP – SU is meant to provide a quick Economic Shock Response to a targeted 15 million beneficiaries across the federation through digital payment to reduce poverty and enhance food security. He said among the dnugu State has enrolled over 26,000 people under Renewed Hope which are already on verge of payment.
He lauded President Bola Tinibu for the initiative and Governor Mba for his determination to make the programme a success.

The head of Operations , Enedo Uzoma disclosed that a State Steering Committee has been introduced to drive the programme to a fruition.

The training and communication Officer Stella Okpe charged the CTFs from the 17 LGAs of the state to utilize the knowledge they gathered from the training to perform thier roles and responsibilities effectively deploring the right language of communication and facilitation skills.

Management and Information System MIS 1 Aniobi Sylvester stressed the need for the CTFs to follow enrollment process and guiding principle such as inc lusion of BVN and NIN in other to capture all the people in the beneficiary list.

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Orjiokolo Nnaemeka, said the programme is result oriented and highlighted the significance of accountability enjoining the CTFs to apply the qualitative and quantitative reporting methodology to ensure smooth operation of the project.

Grievance Redress Manager GRM, Bar. Ngozi Ndibagu told the Grievance Refdress Officers to maintain the conflict resolution skills in discharge of thier duties

Desk Officer, Nkanu East LGA, Orji Simion, thanked the organizers of the event and assured that the DOs, GROs and CTFS will put in thier best to achieve the desired results.
