The Enugu State Police Command, Thursday, opened a unit at GRA, Enugu, where aggrieved members of the public can report erring police operatives for disciplinary action.
The unit, named Complaint Response Unit (CRU), is saddled with the responsibility of receiving and professionally handling complaints of unprofessional conduct against police officers, it was gathered.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, enjoined the public, particularly citizens of Enugu State, to promptly report police unprofessional conduct to the unit by calling 09160002486, 07059160602 and 08176455557, or send a send text or WhatsApp messages to 09160002487, or via the emails enugupolicecomplaint@gmail.com.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensure utmost professionalism, warning that professional infractions by any police officer in the command would be appropriately sanctioned. He called on the citizenry to utilize the contacts and social media platforms provided to report erring police officers, noting that discipline remained the foundation of the Nigeria Police Force.
The commissioner appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetukun, for his foresight in giving full effect to the establishment of the CRU and his unrelenting efforts to reposition the NPF as the foremost professional security agency in Africa.
He thanked the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Nigeria for supporting the establishment and equipment of the Enugu State Command’s CRU Office, assuring that everything would be done to make the office work optimally.
