The Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru, says the multi-billion naira Oferekpe Water Scheme in the state will commence operation before the end of this month.
He disclosed this when he led members of the state Executive Council on an inspection tour of the Old Abakaliki Water Scheme. According to him, when the project begins operations, it would supply water to the residents of Izzi, Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Ezza North and South LGAs to complement the supply from Old Abakaliki Water Scheme, which was also being rehabilitated.
In another development, Gov Nwifuru has announced that plans were ongoing with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to establish 330 mega watts of a transmission station to boost industrialization in the state.
Our correspondent reports that state Executive Council also visited the State Pulverization Centre at Umuoghara, Ezza North Local Government Area, where it monitored recycling machines that were installed recently, and getting set for operations.
