Chief Attah Emerges Traditional Ruler Of Amanato Community

Chief Peter Christopher Attah has emerged the traditional ruler of Amanato Community in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Attah scored 40 votes to defeat his challenger, Chief Attah Demain, who scored 35 votes.

Speaking during the occasion, the Hon Commissioner for Local Government Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey A. Ogbodo, explained that the ministry’s team were at the community to carry out one of their responsibilities of observing community leadership elections to ensure free, fair and credible election that is in line with the community government gazette constitution.

Deacon Ogbodo, represented by Mrs Ogochukwu Ozoagu, Director, Chieftaincy Affairs Department, had earlier called on the people to ensure they cast their votes not for any selfish reasons but to elect the traditional ruler “that is a peacemaker, a man of integrity who is willing to lead his people and enhance development of Amanato Community”.

To the two contestants who signed an undertaking with their agents to maintain peace during and after the election, the commissioner enjoined them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and support each other thereafter for the good of the people.

Our correspondent reports that the Amanato Community’s constitution stipulates for a 75-man delegates, open secret ballot system with four Electoral Committee members. It was followed religiously under the monitoring of their General Assembly, as well as HRH Igwe Samuel Momoh of Mkpamute community, government officials and many security agents.

Reacting the traditional ruler-elect, Chief Attah Peter Christopher, expressed his profound gratitude to his people for finding him worthy to lead them.

He also thanked the state government for their enormous efforts towards ensuring peaceful election since the year 2019, and promised that he will not disappoint, but replicate the vision of the state Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, for a better Amanato Community. He called on the people’s support to enable him to achieve his good plans.
